Review: Botanics All Bright Gentle Cleansing Cream

Hi everyone. I thought I would do a quick review on a relatively new product that I have been using for the past couple of weeks, and that is the Botanicals All Bright Gentle Cleansing Cream.

If you have been a reader of mine for a while, you will know how much I love the Garnier Micellar Cleansing water, which cleanses, tones and moisturises all in one step. But recently I had been wanting to have a change, as I get bored very easily of using the same products over and over again. I found this in my chest of drawers and decided to begin using it.

Straight away, it is a huge bottle, and you only need to apply a small amount on a cotton pad, and apply it over the whole of you face and neck., so you know it will last you months and months.  I live how it is made out of natural ingredients, mainly hibiscus which helps bring back brightness to your skin if it has been looking dull and pale. It says on the back of the bottle

" Natural AHA's from the flower act as mild exfoliators"

and so not only does i cleanse your skin but gently exfoliates too at the same time. I must admit in the 2 weeks I have used it I have not felt any rough particles in the cream, and so it is not going to be too rough if you suffer with sensitive skin. The cream is a white liquid, quite a thick consistency so you have not got to worry, that it is all going to pour out of the bottle too quickly and make a mess every where. There is no fragrance either, so really it is a great cleanser for almost everyone to use.

I found it a good cleanser and got rid of my face make up fine. I did have to go over my eye make up 3 or 4 times as my mascara is a little harder to remove but that was no problem, only taking a few extra swipes and then that was all gone. It did not make my skin feel oily or greasy just soft, clean and fresh. It does say that it is only for the face, but I found that it didnt sting my eyes at all and so I will continue to use it on my eyes as I didn't have any reaction to it.

Overall, I think it is a lovely cleanser and would suit every skin type and so is suitable for young and old. It is available from most Boots stores.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments below which Botanics products you have tried and that you recommend.

Get ready with me

Hi everyone, I thought today I would do a Get Ready with me blog.  I look a little pale in this photo, but I the foundation looked fine in real life, it just must have been the flash. ( keeping it real guys!!!)

Right so first off, as I had promised I am really trying to improve my skincare routine and so I am applying my Soap And Glory moisturiser, its beautiful and really sinks into the skin without making your face feel greasy.

Yep, I am still in my cupcake pyjamas, aren't they cute.

The foundation I am using is the Bourjois 123 foundation, it is quite a thin watery consistency, so I find it better to apply it with my Real Techniques Sponge (it's just like the beauty blender) and it really gives the foundation a flawless finish, as if you are not wearing foundation.
Here I am applying my concealer, and I apply it under my eyes in a V shape, down the center of my nose a little on my chin and a little bit on my fore head. I use it mainly though to cover my bags and dark circles that I suffer with. The brand of concealer I am using is the Collection Lasting Concealer and it is brilliant.
Next, I apply my eyelid primer, this one is from Elf and is a total bargain at £1.50 and keeps my eye shadows in place all day. I would say it is a total dupe for the Urban Decay Primer Potion except that it is much much cheaper, and as I am finding ways to cut down on unnecessary spending, then I would totally repurchase this when I run out of all the other eye shadow bases that I already have in my collection.

The eye shadows that I will be wearing today are the ones from the MUA Undressed palette.
How gorgeous are they!!!!

Excuse the state of my nail polish. The first shade I applied all over the lid right up to the brow bone, the second shade was applied just over the eyelid, and then the third shade I put a little on the outer V but then mainly in the crease to give it some definition.
I then applied my eyeliner, which is a black kohl liner from Maybelline and I apply it just on my waterline as I cant apply it on my tight line and I am never steady to apply it on my eyelid.
For mascara, I have been loving an old mascara that I have had in my collection for ages, and that is the Lancome Hypnose Drama. It is only a sample but I have been using the heck out of it, and it just never seems to be drying up, so a total bargain, it really gives my lashes great length and volume.

This blush is beautiful, I find that it can be used as a blush and a highlighter. Its called Twinkle Pink from Elf and when I say it is pigmented, I mean PIGMENTED. You have to be so very careful with how much you apply on your brush, what I tend to do is just gently place the tips of the bristles onto the blush and then tap the excess of before placing on the cheeks. If it is still too much then I just put some transparent powder over the top and blend, blend, blend.

For lips I went with a relatively new piece in my collection, the new Gelly hi shine lip crayons in the shade 1.
It is a beautiful berry shade. I know it isn't supposed to be the "in shade" at the moment but I really adore  this colour.
Well, that's the finished look. I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know if you would like me to do more of these posts in the comments below.

Love and hugs.

Don't Be Like Me

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. Today, I wanted to just talk to you a little about some mistakes I have made in my life and I thought if I could prevent one person from making the same mistake then it would be useful. The thing I am talking about is money.

I touched a little on it, in one of my blog posts from yesterday, but I wanted to explain what I am doing, what I am going through and why.

When I first moved into my own home with my then boyfriend, I felt as if no one could touch me, I had made it and I could do exactly as I wanted with my money. My partner had said he would pay all the bills, and all I had to pay was the food shop each week. I was so excited and so spent my wages on make up, going on holidays, concerts etc etc. We didn't save a penny, we just lived like money was going out of fashion and spent, spent, spent. We had a wonderful time. We saved up to get married and everything was fine.

Then when I was 8 months pregnant with Daniel, my husband got made redundant. We had no savings, we only had my wage and that was at the minimum level, and so I had to try and pay the mortgage, all the bills, petrol for the car, food shop and prepare for a baby coming very soon. As you can imagine, things were tough, I couldn't manage and so had to get a loan to tide us over until he got a job.

Thankfully, he got a job pretty quick, but he was working nights, and sleeping all day. So I was on my own, looking after the baby all night and all day. I couldn't drive and so felt pretty trapped not being able to go shopping and enjoy myself. Credit card letters kept piling through the door, and so I thought what's the harm, I will just have the one. When it arrived it was like I had hit the jackpot, the shopping channels were my vice and I used to watch them 24/7.

When I maxxed out the first card, I applied for a second and was approved. I maxxed out that. So at that point, I had a loan to pay, and 2 credit card payments to pay with huge interest added on top. When I returned to work 5 months later, they had cut my hours and so now, I was only earning half of what I was before with  major repayments needed on a loan and credit cards. So I applied for an overdraft and managed to get one, but soon I was at the limit of that because of the high interest rates on everything.

I was scared to death, and slowly but surely things were unravelling at home too. My husband had fallen in with a new crowd of friends and alcohol was high on the agenda, and soon he was refusing to pay for bills, and the mortgage and DIY jobs, and so I was trying to balance all that as well as paying off all of my debt.

I felt so alone, so trapped and I didn't want to burden my family with the problems, so I never told anyone how bad things were. Slowly but surely, I worked hard, kept my head down and I started to repay everything, and the loan eventually got paid and the credit cards got paid off. But things were tight, no new clothes, no make up, no nothing. But I had done it, I had no debt, it was amazing, I felt like I was on top of the world.

Then as most of you will know, 3 years ago my husband walked out on me and I had the added burden of now being a single parent. I was so down, and depressed and alone that yet again, I was vulnerable and I fell victim to the old loans and credit cards again. Don't get me wrong, things are nowhere near as bad as they were 7 years ago, but my finances are really not in a good way and so I am taking drastic action so that I can lift my head high when I walk into a shop and know that I can afford to buy things without living on plastic.

I have been an idiot where money is concerned, my Mom was always on about how credit cards and loans are bad, but I thought I knew better and I so wish now I had listened to her. But, onwards and upwards, I will conquer this mountain, and boy is it a big mountain to climb, but I will do it because I have to start saving for Daniel's future and my future and that is the most important thing. I don't NEED the next big eye shadow palette, I don't NEED the most expensive perfume in the world. I WANT financial security and that is the most important goal for me right now.

Basically, I just want to warn all you  beauty lovers and fashion lovers out there that loans and credit cards are not good, take it from someone who knows. They are so bad for you because yes you can buy the latest thing right then, but it takes months and years to repay for them, and by that time, the item that you so wanted has been in the bin for years and you are still paying for it. Stay away from them at all costs if you possibly can.

I am sorry if you found this post boring, but it is a post that comes from my heart and I just hope that I can prevent one of you being in the same sticky mess I am in at the moment.

Till next time, love and hugs xx

My favourite product of the week " Bourjois Rose Vintage Eye Shadow Trio"

Hi everybody. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I have had such a great couple of days and that is without even buying make up or even going shopping, so I am quite proud that my no buy policy is working. It's only been 5 days, but for me that is brilliant!! I know it is going to get tougher but, I have to see this through, and with the help of my family and friends and my lovely readers and followers supporting me, I know I can do this.

For the past few months the trend ever since the Naked 3 palette came out was to wear rose gold shadows on the eyelids. I do have the Naked 3 and I love it, but at the beginning of last week, I was sort of going through my collection and seeing what products I have been neglecting and this little trio popped up.

I love Bourjois and their products as the quality is just phenomenal. As they are associated with Chanel then, you know that the pigmentation of all their products are going to be second to none, and this trio is no exception. They are buttery smooth to apply, yes there is a little fallout, but that is no big deal for me. Their blendability is beautiful and you can create a really pale neutral eye with just the pale pink, or you can make it a deep smoky rose eye shadow look and make the darkest pink in the trio really stand out, not only use it as an outer V shadow but use it along the lower lash line to give the look more intensity.

They are all shimmery and so you may need to get a matte shadow to use as your highlight if you prefer a matte shade near the brow. But for an inner corner brightener, the lightest pink is beautiful. I have received some really nice compliments about my eye look whenever I have worn this eye shadow trio. I also have the grey/ silver eyeshadow trio that is available in the same range. But, if you aren't keen on those, there are some stunning trios that they do, including an all bright blue trio, an all green trio, and perfect for those neutral eye colour lovers amongst you, they do an all brown trio. So there literally is, something for everyone's needs.

You can buy this palette from most drugstores and at the moment Boots has a 3 for 2 offer on all their make up items and so if you are after a bargain, you could pop along to your local store and find something you like.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, let me know what products from Bourjois you love in the comments below, until next time

Soap And Glory Feel Good Factor SPF 25 Facial Moisture Lotion Review

Hi everyone , I will admit now, I am a little forgetful when it comes to my skincare and I know that in the past, I have already said that I was going to be better at using skincare products, but I'm still not applying  my moisturisers as regularly as I should be.

So, when I found this in my collection a couple of weeks ago, I knew that this would help me, and so I have left it out on my dressing table to remind me to use it every time I do my make up in the mornings. I have since been a lot better at using moisturiser and my skin is already reaping the benefits. It is really helping as well with my rosacea, I have noticed that my cheeks and the sides of my nose are no longer as red as they used to be.

This moisturiser has a very important feature that I really like, and that is that it contains an SPF 25. Everyone knows how important protecting your skin is from the harmful rays of the sun, and so I love that you don't have to apply a sunscreen on top of your moisturiser. I do not like my skin to feel greasy after applying products and this really does not do that. It sinks into the skin beautifully, and I feel that it really gives my skin a plumped up look.

The tube contains 50mls of product and so because you only need a tiny amount to use over the whole face and neck (don't forget to moisturise your neck as this can be one of the first places that can show your age) that the tube will last you ages. I love it that it is in a tube too because you can really ensure that you get every scrap of product out.

Soap And Glory are well renowned for their bath and shower products but I truly feel that their facial skincare is right up there and are really beautiful products in their own right. You can get their skincare range on 3 for 2 deals if you look out for them at Boots.

I really recommend that you try this moisturiser and so let me know what you think of this product in the comments below.

Much love,

An all black OOTD #5 27/4/14

Hi everyone. Sorry I have not been around for 4 days. I have been trying to sort myself out. You know sometimes when you get that feeling when things just get a little on top of you, and you need to take a few days out to get your head together and focus. Well, that has been me. I have been a little stupid financially lately, and so a new goal has been put in place and I have to focus on that before buying all the new make up and beauty products that I want to review. I felt like I had to keep up with the new stuff so that people would want to keep reading my blog, but I have now realised that this is not the case, and so you will see new blog posts from me, but from things and products that I already have in my collection, just until I am on top of my financial situation. It may take me 6 months, 10 years or 14 days but until it is sorted I am putting my head down and going to attack this problem with every ounce of strength that I can.

Right onto today's post. I haven't done an outfit of the day in a while so here it is. The black zip necked jumper is from Next and is so comfy and warm, which we still need in the UK as though we know it is supposed to be Spring now, I don't think Mother Nature realises it yet, so until that happens I will be wearing jumpers. It has a drawstring bottom and  so I can leave the bottom loose or pulled in to give the jumper more of a structured look. The black jeggings are from New Look, I love these, so comfy and because they have an elasticated waist, I can eat as much cake as I like without them cutting into me. I hate clothes that are too tight or make me feel too restricted in my movements.

And my favourite footwear of the moment, my black boots, these have a fleece lining and so keep my forever cold feeling feet, nice and toasty warm. I got these from Shoe Zone and they were a total bargain at £12.99.

Well, that is my post, I really hope you enjoyed it and until next time,

Book Review No 2 :The Book Thief

Hi everybody, Happy St George's Day to all my blog readers who are from the UK. Today I thought I would review another book that I finished reading yesterday and that has just been such an incredible read that I just had to feature it on my blog.

The Book Thief by Markus Zuzak is a humbling read from beginning to end. It is set in  the beginnings of World War 2 and follows the journey of a young girl called Liesel Meminger, who is shipped out to a foster family and follows her through many traumatic happenings through the war , and along the way meets a Jew who helps her to discover the power of words, and describes her strong and emotional attachment to her foster father.

The author describes everything in such detail and you really feel as if you are part of the story and you are rooting for all the different characters whether they be good or bad.

I really enjoyed this book as I found it really explained to me the reasoning behind the burning of the books that had happened in the war, and it helped me to understand the beginnings of the war and why the Germans sided with Hitler the way they did.

Words can be used as weapons as well as bombs and bullets and I found this such a powerful message running the whole way through.I also found this book really was a rollercoaster of emotions and it was a true journey that you embark on from the beginning of Chapter 1 to the end of the book. It captivated me in a way that I really did not want to stop reading.

It is truly an amazing and informative book that I highly recommend that everyone reads at least once in their lifetime. This book has really affected me in a positive way and I will definitely rate this in my top 20 books of all time.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments if you have read this book and what you thought of it.

Till next time, love and hugs

The Bloggers Do Bargains Better Challenge #2

Hi everybody, I hope you are all well. Today's post is the challenge post "Bloggers do Bargains Better". This is the second post of this challenge and so when we were set this challenge, the question that formed in my mind was "Where do I shop where I consider to have got bargains from?" and the answer that popped into my head was ........ POUNDLAND.

Let's face it, at the moment no one has got a lot of money to spend on beauty items all the time, and so I wanted to see if you could get relatively good make up and beauty items for £1 each. So this past Saturday I trotted off to my local High Street, grabbed a basket and these are the beauty bargains I managed to pick up.

I will admit, the aisle where the beauty items were, was absolutely trashed. I even saw a lady drop some thing on the floor and instead of picking the item up and placing it back on the hook, she just kicked it under the shelving unit!!!!! There were no clear definitive shelves say with nail polish on, or lipsticks on, they were all jumbled up and so I had to hunt through and find things but treasures were found.

This Rimmel eye shadow palette was an absolute diamond to find as these are normally £4.49 in other shops, and to get 4 shadows for a £1, bargain. I did find other quads from the same range but they were all really bright pinks and greens and I felt that this palette was going to be the one that I would reach for the most on a day to day basis.
I could not believe that I found a Sally Hansen nail polish in Poundland and it was the only one on the shelf and so that quickly was put into my basket so no one else could grab it. They are £6.99 in other shops.

Another nail polish I found, and I had been eyeing this colour up for a while but had never got around to actually buying it was the Rimmel polish in Sky High. Such a gorgeous turquoise green shade, perfect for summer and would look fabulous on the toes.
These are £3.69 in other stores.
Now, most of you by now will know I love my nail polish and that I don't tend to wear falsies as they normally don't stand up to the wear and tear of my daily job. But that all changed with the Nailene false nails I tried a while back ( I did a review on them, check further back in my blog for further details). So when I saw these for a £1.00 I was intrigued as to whether they will be any good. It would be wonderful if they were, as they had quite a few different designs, but as it is Spring I went with the floral theme.

A lot of people love the Rimmel lip liners and I have such a lot of trouble in finding them, that I was totally shocked when I saw this, so I knew it just had to go in my basket.

Last of all, I found a set of make up brushes. If you are a brush lover like myself, you can never have enough brushes in your collection so a pack of 5, seemed like a bargain to me. I will let you know if they are any good, as I have tried cheap brushes before that I found on a clearance end at Boots and they were rubbish. They left more bristles on my face than applied the make up so I will let you know what these are like.

I think, overall I got some really good stuff, and it only cost me £6.00!!!.It just shows that if you are on a tight beauty budget, if you hunt around you can get some great bargains at Poundland and other cheap stores.

I really hope you enjoyed this post and that I have inspired you to do your own beauty bargain shopping.

4 of a kind tag post

Hi everybody, I hope you all have had a lovely Easter Sunday. I spent it with Daniel and my family, and we had a lovely roast beef dinner, followed by playing lots of fun board games. Of course, I ate too much chocolate and Daniel still has 16 eggs to eat, so temptation is all around me, so need to be strong and get back on the old diet bandwagon again after seriously falling off it.

Now, onto today's post. I saw this tag on a fellow bloggers page, and thought it was a fantastic idea to do a blog post on. The idea is, is to go through your collection and find items that you have 4 or more of. Me, being a major hoarder I have quite a few ranges with 4 or more in and so I didn't want to make this blog post too lengthy and so had to choose which items to show you.

First up are my Maybelline colour tattoos.
I love these and have many of the colours available. They are fantastic as using as a coloured base to then pop another powder shadow on the top, so that you don;t get any creasing during the day. Or you can just use them as a simple one step colour swept all over the eyelid and it will give you an easy go to daytime look. I have (in the photo above) pomegranate punk,  mossy green, pink gold, and on and on bronze but I have many others too. They are so reasonably priced too and so these are perfect if you are tempted by the Mac paint pots but can't justify the price tag, these are a great alternative.

Next, up are my Essie nail polishes
These polishes are fantastic and I have a whole nail polish rack dedicated to just Essie polishes. They come in a wonderful array of colours and finishes, including glitters and top coats and they are quite reasonably priced for the quality that you get. I work in a very manual job and so my nail polishes do take a good beating on a day to day basis, so by the second day it is time to take the polish off, but sometimes I can even get a third or fourth day wear out of them.

Another firm favourite in my make up collection are my Revlon lip butters

These are great lip products that you can just throw in your handbag and go, as you don't even really need a mirror to apply them, or even a lip liner as I have found they do not bleed from my natural lip line. They are so smooth to apply, and feel very nourishing and moisturising whilst wearing them. So if you suffer with horrible, dry, chapped lips these will be just perfect as they will really help to combat the dryness. The lip butters come in a huge range of colours from natural nudes to bright pops of colour and so there will definitely be a shade to suit everyone.

Another firm favourite are my L'Oreal Infallible eye shadows.

I love it when eye shadows are so pigmented that they are a breeze to apply, and these fit into that category easily. When you touch them they feel like a cream eye shadow as they are so soft and blendable but then they turn to a powdery type finish. They go onto the eyelid like a dream and are really easy to soften the look. I love them and I would really like to invest in some more brown/neutral shades of the range.

Yes, you guessed it, I had to mention my huge range of Yankee candles as I definitely have more than 4 of these in my collection.
I adore these candles and always stock up when QVC have a special offer on them.

Last but not least I wanted to include my Mac lipsticks.

Now, I appreciate these are on the pricier side of the market but, they are just wonderful products. At the moment I am loving the "Morange" lipstick, the last swatch on the right, it is band on trend for the orange lip look. Mac do so many lovely finishes to their lipsticks, mattes, satins, frosts, amplifieds, that I am sure that you would like one of them. But be warned once you own a Mac lipstick, you will be hooked and want more and more.

Well, that is today's post. Let me know in the comments if you do this tag so I can read all your 4's and more.

Until next time, love and hugs.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Hi everyone. I hope you are all having a lovely Easter weekend. Today I thought I would do a little review on a shampoo and conditioner sample that I ordered from Garnier. I had entered a competition to win some Garnier products but unfortunately I missed out but in commiseration they very kindly sent me this sample to try. Ashamedly, I have had this for a few weeks now and just had not got round to reviewing it, so today I thought I would tell you all about what they were like.

This was a sample for dry and frizzy hair types, I don't have dry hair but I do get very frizzy hair sometimes and I like to straighten my hair a lot so I thought that this would be perfect to help me getting the sleek hairstyle that I always try to aim for.

On the sachet Garnier says

"Tailor made blends to transform your hair to it's shining glory"
"Our velvety formula, with it's divine fragrance, weightlessly nourishes while taming frizz and flyaways. Hair looks sensuously smooth and shiny, as if transformed"

The shampoo and conditioner contains coconut oil and cocoa butter, and you can definitely smell the cocoa butter as soon as you open the product. The shampoo is a clear golden honey colour and I found that it didn't lather up as much as I like and as I am used to, but that is not a negative I just found it a little different.

Once I had rinsed to shampoo out I applied the conditioner and this was a very nice product, with the same rich smell of chocolate, so if you are a chocolate lover this shampoo and conditioner is definitely for you. I did find that the conditioner made it quite hard to run my fingers through my hair whilst rinsing but eventually my hair went smooth enough so that I could properly rinse the conditioner out.At this point I wasn't exactly thrilled with the products and so felt glad that I had only used the free sample and had not wasted my money on buying the full size products,

I towel dried my hair, and then combed it and left it to air dry.

Oh my word!!!!I was definitely not expecting to absolutely LOVE the way my hair felt and looked. My hair has never felt so soft and silky as it has with this shampoo and conditioner, it is sleek and really manageable with none of my tell tale frizz that I normally get. I was very dubious when I was applying both the shampoo and conditioner as I just couldn't seem to get a good lather and then with the conditioner my hair got all tangley, but AFTER the results of how my hair looked and felt were astounding.

I totally love these products and will definitely be buying the full sizes. I totally agree with what Garnier says on their packaging that my hair feels nourished and shiny. It just proves that you cant rush in and judge a product whilst you are only halfway using it, make sure that you see the whole result before you judge it.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried this shampoo and conditioner and what you thought of them.

Until next time, Love and Hugs
