10 Fab products that are £10 or under

Lately, I have been really into purchasing higher end products for some reason. I tend to go in swings and roundabouts. For a few weeks I will be in love with drugstore products and then for the next few weeks I will love the more expensive products. Well, over the last few days, drugstore make up has been my go to look, and I thought I would highlight some of the best products you can buy for under £10 each. First up is a foundation that is fantastic if you like a matte look to your skin, and that is the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse.

This is priced at £7.69 and is a really good foundation. I tend to apply this with my fingers and it is quite a thick formula, but really gives a lovely look to my skin. I love that I dont need to apply a powder after this product, and feels like velvet when applying it to your skin. An eyeshadow base that I think is great and can be worn as a base or as an eyeshadow in it's own right are the Maybelline Colour Tattoos. These are fantastic and come in lots of lovely shades, taupe, gold, pink, blue, burgundy, green, just to name a few.

This is such a pretty Pink Gold shade, and I wear it a lot, it retails for £4.99 and I really believe that these are definitely on par with the higher end versions and so you don't need to pay the exorbitant prices for eyeshadow bases when Maybelline do fantastic products for a fraction of the cost. A cosmetic brand which I think deserves a lot more attention than it gets is Sleek. Their eyeshadow palettes are fantastic and the colours are so pigmented, that  for £6.49 and you get 12 colours in each palette, that you can get lots of different eyeshadow looks for just a little cost.

I love black eyeliners, especially eyeliner pencils that give me the thick, jet black look of a gel eyeliner and this liner from Barry M, gives me a fantastic dark eye line and is such a good product for £4.41, that it rivals the Urban Decay Zero or Perversion eyeliners.
I have to have a good concealer, as the dark shadows under my eyes just look awful at the moment, and one I have been loving lately has been the Maybelline Dream Lumi radiant concealer pen.
It has a brush tip, and you have to twist the top to get the cream to dispense out of the brush. I pat a few drops onto my dark circles and then blend into my skin with my fingertips. I then brush a little bit of powder over the top of it, just to set it and reduce the chances of it sinking into my fine lines and wrinkles. It retails for £6.99 which is a great price. Mascara, I tend to prefer drugstore anyway and yet again Maybelline have done it again with another fantastic mascara, first they had, the Rocket, which is a great mascara and now with the Lash Sensational mascara. It has a curved wand, which really grabs the lashes and makes them look lengthened and voluminous all at the same time.
At £7.99 I highly recommend you giving this a try, if you haven't already. It is a really good product. Body Lotions , I am constantly changing, and swapping them around as I sometimes get bored with the same scent all the time, but one that has been a staple in my collection for a long time, and I am always buying back ups of is the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter
This is bang on the £10 mark, and is the most expensive product out of the 10 things that I have chosen, but it is truly worth the money and will last forever as it is such a huge pot,it will last you a good long time. It really leaves your skin feeling soft and really moisturised as it contains shea butter and smells delicious. I love nail polishes and don't tend to buy high end ones as you can probably get some really good dupes for them in the drugstore. Essie is a nail polish brand that I love and I have MANY of their colours, as I find their formula is great and really good for the price of £7.99
I have recently been very tempted to purchase the loose powder from Chanel as it is raved about on YouTube and I thought to myself I would get it. But, when I looked into the price of £50!!!! for a pot, I thought it was a little extortionate and will stick to my drugstore pressed powders instead. A good one, I have been enjoying using lately is the Boujois Healthy Balance powder. It comes in a little compact, and I just use it with a make up sponge, that you van get at most chemists/drugstores and it really keeps my skin looking flawless during my working day. I purchased this for the retail price of £8.99, which I don't think is too bad for a good mattifying product.

Last but not least is blush. I do love my high end blushes, and until recenly had not found any good drugstore ones that I used regularly. Max Factor have recently launched their Creme Puff blushes, which I think are a good dupe for the high end Hourglass blushes as they have both their powder and blush in the one product. I was under the impression that the Max Factor ones weren't going to live up to my expectations but how wrong could I be!!!. They are fantastic with their pigmentation and their staying power. I love them and just keep using them all the time, and I have been raving about them to all my customers. At £8.99 each, you cannot go wrong.

There are plenty more fantastic products for under £10 also, but these were just a few of my favourites. If you would like me to, I could do a series of posts like these for newer products under £10, so if you want me to do this, just let me know in the comments. I hope you have enjoyed this post, and will talk to you again soon.

Until next time,

Review: O.P.I "You Don't Know Jacques" Nail Polish

Oh no, I hear you say. A BROWN nail polish, eurggh!!! I thought that at first, but I soon changed my mind, when I saw how pretty the actual colour is on your nails. It is so flattering on the nail, and looks really classy and elegant when worn with a very shiny top coat over the top of it. It is a true cult favourite among YouTubers and Beauty Bloggers, and I can understand why. O.P.I are a fantastic nail polish brand, and over the years I aquired many of their colours, from brights to darks, from neon's to pastels and this taupe brown is one of my favourites ever. It is a cream  formula and glides onto the nails without streaking at all, which I love. Cream polishes have to be my most favourite polish to use as they just apply so beautifully to the nail and require hardly any effort in application.
It is quite a wide brush, and so you don't need many strokes with the brush to cover the entire nail. I always do one swipe down the centre of the nail, and then one to the left of it, and then one to the right. I have found if you do too many then that is when you get too much polish on the nail and the risk of the polish bubbling and the easier you will find that the polish chips.
Not a very good photo, I wil agree. But I like to wear this polish when you want something classy and elegant but just a little different from the normal reds and pinks. You can wear this colour with any colour outfit, even if you are going out to special event, then this taupe cream nail polish, will really add a touch of something different to pull your whole look together.

I hope you have enjoyed this review and let me know in the comments if you have this colour in your nail polish collection too.

Review: The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil

I am really making a determined effort this year to take better care of my skin, especially when it comes to make up removal. All too often in the past I have just been so tired and worn out at the end of the day, all I want to do is fall into bed. But, I made a resolution this past January that laziness was coming to an end as my skin was just not looking it's best and I wanted to improve not only the look but the feel of my skin too.

So I have been buying lots of different types of cleansers, oils, foaming gels, and yes, you guessed it facial wipes to try and help me figure out what my skin likes and what I prefer to use of a nighttime for my cleansing routine. I know a lot of people won't even use facial wipes to clean their skin, but for me, as long as all my make up is removed and I don't see the harm of using them occasionally when a full on skincare routine is just going to take too long.

Today I thought I would share with you my thoughts on The Body Shop's Camomile Cleansing Oil. Now, a couple of years ago, you would have seen me point blank refusing to use an oil, on my already oily skin, thinking it would just make my shininess even worse and so I stiuck to the wipes or a foaming cleanser that had no oil included in it's ingredients. But lately, I was intrigued to see how this would work on my skin and so I gave it a go, and I have to say I am quite impressed. For 200mls of product it costs £10.00 which is fantastic value for money as it will last such a long time. It is for every skin type, and is very silky feeling but not too greasy. I have been using the bottle for 2 weeks and hardly any of it has gone.
It comes with a pump dispenser so that you never get too much. I always wet my face first with warm water, pump a little into my hand, massage the oil together between the palms of my hands, and then spread over my face rubbing gently in circular motions. I pay particular attention to the sides of my nose, and chin as that is where I tend to get the odd break out. I do find though that if I am wearing a lot of heavy liner and mascara, I do have to do the cleansing twice, as sometimes it doesn't always remove it at the first attempt. It is a very gentle cleanser and does not aggravate my rosacea which I have at the sides of my nose and can be quite pronounced with some other cleansers I have tried in the past.

I love that the make up comes off very easily with this oil, sometimes I use a muslin cloth with the water to remove the oil, and I don't feel that I have to scrub at my skin to remove it, it is really gentle and quite soothing. The camomile fragrance is beautiful, and really makes you feel like you are using a very high end luxurious product when in fact it is a high end product but with a drugstore price point.

I really recommend this cleansing oil, especially if you are a sceptic about facial oils like I was. Try it, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I hope you have enjoyed this review, and let me know in the comments which cleansers you use.

Spring Lip Colour Picks feat. Nyx, Mac, Bare Minerals,Charlotte Tilbury and Laura Mercier

Spring is very nearly upon us, well here in Birmingham it is getting a little warmer and so I am hoping those cold, bitter wintry days are gone. There is nothing nicer than seeing the beautiful sunshine and feeling the heat warm your face. I love warm weather and I have really been liking some lighter, brighter lip colours and I thought I would show you which colours I have been going to. First up is the NYX butter gloss in the shade Apple Strudel.

This is such a beautiful, peachy coral shade, and I love wearing this. It is a very sticky gloss, and so when you are outside and the wind is blowing, your hair will get caught on your lipgloss. But it really looks beautiful worn with a neutral eye, and coral cheek. It really gives a pretty spring look to your whole make up look.

This Mac lipglass called "Prrr" is a truly beautiful colour, and perfect for an everyday neutral workday lip colour. It is very glossy and gives a really pretty shimmer to your lips. It feels very moisturising and doesnt gather on any dry patches that you may have on your lips. The colour is a nude caramel shade and really flattering to any skin tone. This also looks so pretty worn over a nude lipliner to give the look a little shine.

This next shade from Bare Minerals is called "Miss Popular" and is a truly beautiful colour. This has to be one of my favourite lipglosses ever. It is a cool blue toned pink and is from their wonderful Marvellous Moxie range. This instantly screams Spring and Summer to me. I wear it on it's own or sometimes I have evn worn it over a dark lipstick and it instantly lightens it, and gives it a whole different look. It is such a versatile product and if you have not got this in your collection, I really think you should purchase it, as it is a definite must.

Lipliners, are a thing that I have only just really got into. I never used to really bother with them, and really did not see the point in using them. But now, I see how they really give your lip look a good sturdy base to apply your lipstick onto and makes it last a lot longer instead of wearing off straight away after you have eaten or drank anything. They stop your lipstick bleeding and make the lip look so much more polished and neat, that now I barely ever go without using a lip liner. One of my go to lip liners is Charlotte Tilburys "Pillow Talk". It is a beautiful nude with just a hint of terracotta brown to it, and looks just as good worn on it's own as a simple work lip look or I wear it with one of the glosses listed above over the top of it, to give a pretty sheen. Such a great neutral liner, that everyone needs to own, as it goes so pretty with nude lip colours, or pink lipcolours, or even some coral shades.

The last shade I have chosen is Laura Mercier's lip liner in the beautiful "Plumberry". This is a gorgeous lipliner and very creamy when you apply it to your lips.It is a nude with a hint of pink/plum, but not too much, that it looks too bright and intense. This product I wear at least twice a week, and is raved about in many blogs and YouTube reviews, with good reason. A truly great lipliner that is great worn on its own or as a base for a lipstick or gloss to go over the top of it. I love to wear a clear lipgloss over it, just to add a touch of moisture as all lipliners can feel a little drying, and to allow the Plumberry colour to show through.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my go to Spring lip colour picks, and hope I have inspired you to use lipliners if you don't already.

Book Review: The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins

I love reading, and always have done. Ever since I was a little girl where most of the time you would have found me with my nose stuck in a book. I loved finding out about different characters or different adventures and my imagination just ran riot. Even now, I love the way a book can take you away from problems in your own daily life, and you go on a journey with all the characters, you almost end up feeling like you are right there with them in the story line. I love reading all different genres of books, romance, biographies, history books, but just lately I have been loving a good thriller.

Lately though, although I have been reading steadily, none of the books have caught my imagination like "The Girl On The Train". Right from the beginning I was on that train with Rachel, and the storyline totally gripped me and I had to tear myself away to carry on with my daily duties, but even whilst at work, I found myself wondering where the plot was going to go. This book is a thriller, that grabbed my attention right from the start, as I could relate to the main characters marriage break up and although totally different to my situation, I could feel the pain and anguish that Rachel was going through. The plotline just kept you at the edge of your seat, and you kept switching how you felt about the 3 main female characters. One minute I felt sad, then I felt so mad, that I just wanted to scream at my Kindle, I could not press the page turner button quick enough.

The author wrote this book with such skill and such detail that it was just a great easy read and it was a total rollercoaster ride from start to finish. The book dealt with alcoholism, divorce and other such topics that affect people from every way of life, but was written with great empathy, and detail that your emotions were swung this way and that. You never knew how the book was going to end and it was a fantastic ending when it did finally arrive. I loved this book and totally recommend it to anyone looking for a great book to read.

I hope you enjoyed this book review and if you have any books that you think I should read, please leave your recommendations in the comments below.

My Beauty Finds This Week - w/c 7/4/2015

Sometimes, the hauling bug just grabs a hold of you and won't let go. This is what has happened to me lately. Even though with all my pledges of being good and restricting my spending, the shopaholic in me has taken over and won't let go. Simply put, I love make up and I love shopping and while new products come out on the market, then I have to go and have a look, not necessarily buy them straight away, but just see what they are like.

As you know Make Up Geek, have some of my most favourite products ever and I love their blush range, just simply beautiful, and so I knew I just had to purchase the 4 new eyeshadow colours that have been launched. Wisteria, a beautiful purple shade, I had to wear the day after I recieved it, and oh my word it is beautiful. Such a creamy shadow to apply, even though it is a powder product, and the shade although it might look a little daunting in the pan, is just stunning.

Poppy is a really pretty coral/orange shade and although I am not brave enough to wear this as a stand alone colour all across the lid, I will be using just a little of this colour into the crease just to give a hint of warmth to any cool/neutral eye look that needs just a touch of something to bring the warmth back into the look. Although I have not tried it as of yet, it may even be pretty worn as a blush on the apples of your cheeks, I should imagine though, you would need a very gentle touch when getting the colour onto your brush, as the shadow is so very pigmented.

Rapunzel is a pretty shade, a creamy light yellow tone, and although pretty I am not sure if this colour will work on my skin tone. Let's just say this maybe a fail, as it did not wow me as much as the other shades instantly did. I thought I might be able to get it to work as a brow bone highlight but I think it is just a tad too yellow, but we will see.

High Tea is a beautiful shade, and one of the most wearble out of the four. It is a taupe with a hint of khaki green to it, which I think will really suit my eye colouring. In the pan, it looked a very nice shade, but I was much more impressed when I saw it swatched on my hand.

Now, onto a product from a brand, that I had not been too aware of. I had watched quite a few videos on You Tube, where vloggers had been raving about a primer from the brand Murad, so I thought why not give it a try.I am always on the lookout for a good primer as it really helps your foundation glide onto the skin smoother, and help to keep it there for longer.
It has a matte finish which I know I will love, as I hate shine in a product unless it is high on my cheekbones. I have such oily skin that I need products that really mattify, especially on my T Zone.

Mac, Mac, Mac what are you doing to my bank balance? I just cant help it, everytime I see people talk about their products I have to have them, especially if they are from any of the Limited Edition Collections.

I had to get this powder. MSF's are just really good value for your money as they will last FOREVER as there is just so much product in the pan. As I said earlier, I am on a mattifying kick for my skin, and hopefully this powder will help me achieve the look I am wanting. Two lipsticks were on my wishlist last week, and I managed to get them after going to 2 different Mac stores. One lipstick is the most coveted Boca lipstick from the Julia Petit line.

It is a gorgeous satin finish in a pretty light pink colour. Such a wearable everyday colour. I love it when the colours are great for work wear, as sometimes the limited edition colours can be a little out there on the colour spectrum. The other lipstick i wanted was Honey Love.

It is a matte nude, but is pretty. Although since purchasing it, I have found I have lots of dupes for it. D'OH!!!! Never mind, it is now in my collection and I will definitely be getting my usage out of it.

So, that was my shopping goodies from last week, let me know in the comments what you have purchased recently, and what I need to add to my collection.

Love and Hugs
