First Impressions of the Anastasia Beverley Hills Artist Palette

Neutral eyeshadow looks are my go to, or have been my go to look for every day wear for the past 4 or 5 yearsSometimes I would darken the outer v and turn it into a smoky eyed look, but taupes and greys and browns have really been the order of the day. Perfect for work appropriate make up looks, and perfect for casual weekend looks. When I was younger I used to always wear bright shadows, and would rock a bright turquise or a bright pink eye look without thinking twice about it, but I guess with age came a need for more natural and earth toned looks. Yet, again YouTube has influenced me and when I saw the Anastasia Beverley Hills Artist palette, and the reviews it was getting, I just knew I had to have it, and boy these shadows are FANTASTIC.

I love the bright packaging and the light cardboard packaging would make it perfect for travelling with as long as you protected it enough in the middle of your suitcase as the shadows will still be vulnerable. Having a dual ended brush to use with the palette is great for travelling but as I have said before in previous posts, I just don't tend to use them regularly as I feel that the end that you put downwards into your storage, the bristles will either get damaged or really dirty. I do love that you have a mirror included on the inside of the lid, so touch ups are possible if you are out and about.

You get 12 beautifully pigmented shadows and there are some gorgeous colours to make high impact looks with. You get 5 matte shades and 7 glittery/shimmery shades, which makes it perfect for a complete look because you get a highlight shade included, and a shadow that you could use as a liner as well as a normal shadow. On swatching these they are incredibly creamy and buttery to apply, and very very pigmented. These shadows pack a punch when it comes to pigmentation.

First row swatched
Dusty Rose is a matte mauve.
Aubergine looks matte in the pan but when you swatch it there is deep burgundy shimmer running through it. A truly gorgeous shade.
Anaconda is a olive green shimmer, really pretty.
Punch Fuschia is a velvety purple pink shade.
Buttery is a cream/ pale yellow matte highlight.
Blue Velvet is a deep matte navy blue and would look great as an alternative to a traditional smoky eye look.

Second Row swatched.
This row is the row that blew my mind, the depth of colour is amazing.

Coal is a matte black, perfect for deepening shadows, and use as a liner.
Unicorn is a lavender blue with shimmer and really pretty.
Phresh is a BRIGHT matte buttercup yellow
Baby I'm A Star is a chocolate brown glitter. This shadow is beautiful and I cannot wait to try it out in a look.
Orange You Fancy is a rusty orange with gold shimmer running through it.
Beigely is a such a pretty shade and has a subtle shimmer to it. This shadow is perfect for a neutral look.

My first impression of this palette is that it is stunning, and I am going to do so many looks with it, and see which shadows I can work, and which I can't. I will be doing a follow up review of it in about 3 weeks time, so stay tuned.

GlossyBox Review June 2015

I am so good at procrastinating lately. Every day I have been all set with the intention of blogging and then the time passes and 3 days later, still have not posted a blog post. Then when I am all set to write, my old temperamental laptop decides that it doesn't want to play fair and so a post that normally takes between 2 - 3 hours to write then takes 4-5. It is so frustrating, but hey ho, hopefully it will decide to play fair today.  The Glossy box is a great monthly subscription box and allows you to try out products that you a) may have seen but put off purchasing and b) try new brands that you have previously unheard of. Now, onto the products that I recieved this month.

This month's box is all festival themed and so has products in it, that are great products to use when travelling and convenient to use. The first product is the Monu Spa Rosewood Reviving Mist.
This is a true multi use product and I LOVE it. It contains lots of essential oils, such as lemon, rosewood and geranium and when spraying over my face it is such a gorgeous fragrance and is lovely to spray on my face when I am feeling a little hot and bothered, now the weather is warming up a little. It can also be used as a make up setting spray and so this is great to keep in my collection. I would definitely repurchase this once my other sprays are used up. There is 50mls in this travel size bottle and the full size is 200mls and costs £11.95 which is a really reasonable price. Next in the box were some Glossybox tattoos. Now, I was very disappointed in this, because when you first sign up for Glossybox they ask you for all your details and your prefrences in beauty products. These tattoos are probably great for those of you in your teens and twenties but considering I am nearly 40, these just will not be used at all, and will be given away.

One product that I will definitely be using are the travel pack of the  Halo fragrance Free facial wipes. I love facial wipes and find them really useful although I do use cleansers a lot of the time, facial wipes are great for when you are too tired to do a whole cleansing routine and just want to remove your make up in a quick but effective way.
Cellulite is the bane of my life. I hate it. Ever since having my little boy, the cellulite on the top of my legs has got even worse and so I am always applying lotion to try and get rid of it, so a lotion that is designed to get rid of the dreadful lumps and bumps, is always welcome. This tube is a full size product and costs £14.55 in retail stores. The instructions say to apply it twice a day and massage into the affected areas to get your legs all ready for summer. Hopefully this will work, as it really makes me feel very self conscious when wearing a bathing suit to take my son swimming.
The last item in the box was a gel nail polish from Essence in the shade number 18, "I Don't Care". It is a gorgeous orange/red shade and is going to look gorgeous on my toenails and can't wait to wear it. It is a stunning colour and totally my cup of tea. Those were all the products in this months box, and overall I am very pleased with everything that I recieved, the only thing that was a little bit of a let down were the tattoos. I cannot wait to see what we get in next months box.

Get Ready With Me feat. MakeUp Geek, Max Factor, and Benefit

Today I thought I would show you some of my favourite products that I have been using lately. I love things that can get you ready really quickly, and have also been really trying to use up my products in my make up stash. For my foundation, I have still been using the Max factor Age Elixir. This bottle I think has no limit, as I have been using it every day for 2 months now and it is still going strong. It has a serum in it too, and so some days I don't need to apply a primer or serum underneath because it is all contained in the foundation. It gives a medium to full coverage on my skin and looks quite matte, although I still cover it with a powder to ensure I don't get too shiny in my T Zone.

The mascara I have been loving is the Benefit Roller Lash. Although it is only a travel sized product, it has been lasting me for ages, and really gives me great length to my lashes. It has a curved bristle wand and this really helps to grip and curl the lashes from the teeny tiny lashes in the inner corner of the eye, to the long fluttery lashes at the outer rim of the eye.
The Max Factor Creme blushes that have recently been launched have quickly become some of my favourite blushes that are in my collection. They are such pretty colours, are nicely pigmented and apply onto the cheeks really creamily and blend out easily. If you have not tried them, you should definitely check them out whenever you are next in your local Boots/Superdrug stores.
I apply my blush with a travel size kabuki brush, and this really places the product on the apples of my cheeks where I like the most of the blush. I always try to apply it rotating the brush backwards so that not a lot of the product gets near my nose and inner cheeks as that is where I get a lot of the rosacea. My eye shadow that I am totally IN LOVE with are the MakeUp Geek shadows. They are just fantastic, beautifully pigmented, and you get hardly any fallout. On the lid, I applied the shade Cinderella, and then as ahighlight I used Vanilla Bean. Lately, I have been loving simple eye looks as they can look just as pretty and feminine as an eye look containing 4 or 5 different shadows.

The top shadow isnt showing in the photo as pigmented as it is in real life but you will see the real colour in the final photos. I was naughty and totally forgot to add the lip product that I have been wearing which is the beautiful Angel lipstick from Mac. It is a gorgeous pink shade which is perfect for every day wear.

Well, that is the end of my Get Ready With Me post. I hope you have enjoyed it. and let me know which products you have been using lately.

Love and Hugs.

Another Little Haul feat. Seventeen, Urban Decay, Chanel, Kat Von D and Tarte

I am always on the look out for new beauty items, and  have really been on the hunt for more coloured eyeliners. I love my black gel eyeliners but on some days I just want a little touch of color on the waterline, and I know one brand that always has lovely colours in their eyeliner selection and that is Urban Decay. I love their black eyeliner in Perversion, and the brown coloured liner in Smog, and so when I saw the Navy Blue glitter eyeliner in the shade "LSD" I knew I had to have it in my collection.

The swatch looks as if the liner is black but I can assure you it is a really pretty shade of blue. Another liner that I saw when I was browsing on Ebay was "Azurite Green" from the Tarte Skinny Smouldereyes range. This eye liner is waterproof, and so is great for me at the moment, as I am really struggling with watery eyes, and I don't know why, so hopefully this liner will stay in the waterline longer.

This colour is truly beautiful and is a proper deep green in tone and really does stay in the waterline. I love this liner and adds a lovely pop of colour to a neutral eye or a dark smoky eye look. I love products that speed up the whole beauty process and especially when it comes to making nail polish dry faster, and the next repurchase is a product that I have loved in the past, and thats the Sally Hansen Instadry top coat.

It is great if you are in a rush but you have to get your nails looking beautiful for a day/night out. You just apply the colour polish you want, then apply a layer of this over the top and with 5-10 minutes your nails are dry. Not only does this product dry nails in minutes but it gives a really beautiful shine to your nails, and helps to make them look healthy. With mascaras, I love my drugstore brands, but then occasionally I am temoted to make a high end purchase and this was the case with the Chanel Le Volume De Chanel mascara.

I am so glad that I own this mascara, it is fantastic with a natural bristle brush but gives length, volume and definition to my boring straight, short lashes. I can see this mascara really becoming one of my holy grail mascaras, right up there with my L'Oreal Voluminous and Benefit's They're Real. There is nothing more confidence raising than a bright red lip for me. I love it, because you can be feeling really tired, or unwell, and a bright red lip can instantly make your make up look finished and polished even if you only have a BB cream and a slick of mascara on. This red shade in "Adora" from Kat Von D is stunning and just look at the pretty packaging the lipstick is encased in.

Last, but certainly not least is a new define and contour kit from the range Seventeen. I am always interested in contour products as lately my face has been looking very fat and so really want a look that makes my cheeks look slimmer and more defined and this is a really good product and very inexpensive.

As you can see this product has been very well loved and I have been wearing it a lot since I bought it. They are really smooth and creamy when applied to the cheeks and so blend into the skin easily. I have used brushes and my fingertips to apply the bronzer and the highlight to my cheeks. I have even used the highlight shade to define the bridge of my nose to make it look slender, and then just added a touch to my cupids bow too.

A lot of people ask whether I prefer drugstore brand sor high end brands, and for me the answer is always BOTH. You can great products that are inexpensive but then you can get fantastic products that are high end, but I will say the drugstore brands are really upping their game when it comes to the quality of their products, and Seventeen is definitely one of those brands.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, and feel free to let me know in the comments what you have purchased lately.

An amazing evening with Samantha Schuerman feat. Neals Yard

I have been a long time viewer of Sam Schuerman, I think it has been about 4 years and have watched her and Jay and their lovely children Phoenix and Lily really become YouTube favourites. Not only do I watch their daily vlogs, but I also watch Sam on her beauty channel . She does some really pretty make up looks, and knows her stuff when it comes to all things beauty. I love that Sam not only talks about highend brands of make up but also includes drugstore products too.

So when I saw that Sam was in England and was doing a meet up at Neals Yard in Solihull, which is near me, I just knew I had to be there. All day I was really nervous and worried that I would be queueing for hours and not get to see her, or speak to her but I couldn't have been more wrong. I got there really early (as I always do) and had a good look round at all the lovely products that the Neals Yard store sells. They do some really beautiful skincare products featuring all natural ingredients and the store smelt beautiful from all the lotions and oils that they sell.

When Sam walked in with Gemma ( I hope I have spelt that right) and her Nanny Doodle, I felt so nervous but she soon made me feel at ease. More and more people were arriving and Sam made us all feel really at ease, and I soon felt as if we were chatting to a friend we had known for years.

Sam, was exactly how she is on her videos,  friendly, sweet and really has a great sense of humour. Sometimes with big YouTubers you feel like they look down on everyone and feel that they are better than their viewers but Sam was so not like that. When Sam hugged me, and spoke to me, it was so nice and I was so thrilled when I had the opportunity to have my photo taken with her.

I also met some other ladies who I recognised from Instagram, Shelley who is xshelley85x, and another YouTuber Bless This Cookie. It was really lovely to chat to these ladies too, and just wish I had had my photo taken with them too.

Lisa, who had organised the evening and made the evening possible, had laid on all lovely drinks and nibbles, and the store looked beautiful, and I definitely want to go back to buy some Neals Yard products, as I had not tried anything from the range before. We were given a lovely goodie bag , to say thankyou for attending the event.
In the goodie bag there was a booklet, talking about all the different products that they sell, a hydrating cream, a facial wash, a sachet of shampoo and conditioner, eye gel, hand cream and a beauty balm, so lots of goodies for me to try and review for you all.

Towards the end of the evening we all had a group photo taken with Sam and I was so sad when I had to leave. Sam Schuerman is just the most down to earth, friendly and lovely person and everyone needs to watch her and her family's daily vlogs and should subscribe to her beauty channel, if you don't already.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post, and let me know if you have tried Neals Yard products in the past and what you recommend.

Love and Hugs.

#BrimblesBox Review June 2015

As well as being a beauty lover, I am a huge stationary and planner addict and so at the beginning of this year I subscribed to a stationary monthly subscription box called the #BrimblesBox ran by the lovely Anna Brim and I have been recieving some really products in them. Here is a review of this months box. Upon opening the box all the products are wrapped in a beautiful pink tissue paper, and then just look at the pretty princess and horse sticker. This box is all about pink and girly themed products.
In every box you always get a lovely hand made postcard from Anna, telling you all about the theme of the months box and her inspiration behind it. I just love that cute frog, I have used this in my planner too using it as a kind of dashboard to put sticky note reminders on.

We also recieved a dashboard in the same design, I just love the floral background and the contrast between the pink pastel background and the green of the frog. I am a bit of a pen collector and always have to buy a pen if I go anywhere, for example we visit a nature centre, or a historic castle, I always go and buy a pen from that place as I reminder of my trip to that place and so when I saw that this box had a pen in it, I was really pleased and just look how pretty it is.
I love the flowers and the crown on the top of it, I know I will feel like a true princess using this pen, such a pretty design.

This tape dispenser is just so cute, in the shape of a princess's castle. I love that it is pink too, so this will go on my table and go really well with my bedroom as it is all pink and flowery themed. I had never seen anything like this before and really made me smile when I pulled it out of the box.
Like last month, we recieved a clear stamp, and so I am looking forward to trying this once I purchase some ink to use with it.
I have been toying with the idea of starting up a project life album, and so these cards are really good to use either with a project life album or just to use in my planner. They are a really good size and will add a nice touch of colour to my planners. They are so multifunctional and are really good to have in your stationary stash/collection.

I love shopping lists and to do lists and so these pink and girly ones are perfect. I am constantly making lists and these are so useful to have dotted about the house to remind me of everything I need to do on certain days. Last but not least was the planner charm. These are so well made and really add a touch of uniqueness to your planner or diary.
I just loved this month's theme as I love anything pink and girly. I feel like it has brought out the little girl in me all over again. I so love this monthly subscription box as I just use everything that is sent out to me, well most, I have not got the ink for the stamps as of yet, but I will. If you are not subscribed to a monthly stationary/planner subscription box then I highly recommend the #BrimblesBox as it is such good value for money.
